Job Title: InstructionalAssistant (IA)

Location: FrederickCounty Public Schools – Winchester, VA

Job Type: Full-Time

Job Description:

Join a dedicated educational team committed to supportingstudents with diverse learning and behavioral needs. As an InstructionalAssistant, you’ll work under the supervision of special education staff or adesignated supervisor to provide both academic and behavioral support in theclassroom. This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate abouteducation and making a positive impact in students’ daily lives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist students with instructional activities and classroom participation
  • Support students with behavioral needs using strategies provided by supervising staff
  • Provide personal care and mobility assistance as needed
  • Follow individualized education plans (IEPs) and behavior intervention plans (BIPs)
  • Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and other school personnel to support student success
  • Maintain a safe, respectful, and inclusive learning environment
  • Document student progress and report observations to supervising staff

Qualifications:

  • Certification may be required depending on state or contract guidelines
  • Current CPR certification (if applicable)
  • TB screening (PPD, chest x-ray, or questionnaire as applicable)
  • Current health certificate (as required by contract or state regulation)
  • Must meet all federal, state, and local employment requirements
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Willingness to work with students requiring behavioral and/or physical support
