Primary Care Physician (MD)

 Full Time – Houston ,TX – Long/Term Contract 

About the Role 

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as the on-site medical authority, overseeing all aspects of healthcare delivery.
• Provide direct care to a diverse patient population, including adults and children.
• Conduct physical assessments, manage acute and chronic conditions, and respond to medical emergencies.
• Supervise and collaborate with APPs, nursing staff, and other clinical personnel.
• Review and approve referrals, lab results, and patient documentation.
• Participate in performance improvement initiatives and staff training.
• Maintain accurate and timely electronic health records.

Qualifications

• MD or DO from an accredited U.S. or Canadian institution (or ECFMG certification for international graduates).
• Active, unrestricted medical license in Texas.
• DEA license to prescribe controlled substances in Texas.
• Board certified or board eligible in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Emergency Medicine, or Pediatrics.
• Minimum 1 year of direct patient care experience.
• BLS certification (AHA, Red Cross, or ASHI).
• Spanish language proficiency preferred but not required.

Preferred Experience

• Prior work in detention, correctional, or residential healthcare settings.

• Proficiency in electronic health records and Microsoft Office tools.
• Ability to manage emergencies and work flexible hours, including on-call rotations.

Security & Physical Requirements

• Must pass DHS background checks and fitness determinations.
• Capable of responding to emergencies within four minutes.
• Able to perform physical tasks such as standing, walking, lifting, and CPR.
