Job Goal:
To reduce or eliminate speech and language problems that interfere with the student’s personal development.
Performance Responsibilities and Duties:
- Provide a full range of services including screening, assessment, development of an individualized program.
- Provide speech therapy to students at the high school level.
- Evaluate, in cooperation with other professional staff, the effects of a speech or hearing handicap upon the student’s educational achievement and personal adjustment.
- Initiate referrals to other district and county personnel where educational achievement is related to psycholinguistic learning disabilities, as indicated by evaluations.
- Consult with teachers regarding students referred for speech correction.
- Employ speech correction techniques to minimize speech disorders, in a proper sequential pattern of development.
- Provide periodic reports to teachers on the progress, needs, and techniques, which lead to speech correction.
- Establish effective relationships with students, staff and parents.
- Other related duties.
Required Qualifications:
- California Speech-Language Pathology Services Credential in Clinical Rehabilitative Services: Language, Speech, and Hearing or eligibility for.
- Demonstrated success in working in the area of speech/language remediation with students.
Schedule:
- Monday-Friday
- 8:15a-4p
Must be flexible traveling site to site
Caseload: 50
Age: 9th-12th grade
