Director of Nursing

 

Setting: NC County Corrections

Location: Lumberton, North Carolina

Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00PM

Pay Rate: Approximately $115,000 annually

Employment Type: Full-Time Contract

 

Position Overview:

AmergisHealthcare Staffing  is seeking adedicated and experienced Director of Nursing (DON) to lead andmanage the nursing team within the correctional healthcare environment. Thisleadership role is responsible for overseeing all aspects of nursing care,ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations, and promoting a safe, ethical,and effective clinical environment for both staff and detainees.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic and operational leadership for the nursing department.
  • Supervise, mentor, and evaluate nursing staff performance.
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal healthcare regulations and detention center policies.
  • Collaborate with medical, mental health, and administrative teams to coordinate comprehensive care.
  • Develop and implement nursing protocols, quality assurance programs, and staff training.
  • Manage departmental budgets, supplies, and staffing schedules.

 

Qualifications:

  • Current and active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of North Carolina (required).
  • Minimum of 5 years of nursing experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership or supervisory role.
  • Experience in correctional healthcare, public health, or emergency nursing preferred.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a secure and structured environment.
