The Progressive Care Unit RN, as a professionalpractitioner, assumes the responsibility and accountability for deliveringpatient care to telemetry/progressive care patients. The Progressive Care UnitRN demonstrates the ability to make clinical judgments in an effective andefficient manner with supervision. This individual employs critical thinkingand performance ability in the coordinator of patient care, consistentlyperforms according to nursing standards, and is accountable in managing patientcare and assisting others in the management of patient care. The Progressive Care Unit RN is sometimesalso called a step-down nurse, cardiac stepdown, neuro stepdown, surgicalstepdown and in some medical centers, the PCU is also known as a transition orintermedia unit.

Minimum Requirements:

Current Registered Nurse License for the state in which thenurse practices
One year prior professional nursing experience preferredwith one year progressive care unit experience preferred
Current CPR if applicable
TB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable
Current Health certificate (per contract or stateregulation)
Must meet all federal, state and local requirements
Must be at least 18 years of age

• Facility Department/Cost Center: 16910 (614) Progressive Care Unit • Role (RN, Tech, LPN, PT, etc.): RN • Specialty: PCU – Stepdown Cardiac • Number of Openings: 1 • Shift: Nights: 7P – 7A • Weekly Guaranteed Hours: 36 • Weekend Hours: Every Other • Call Requirements: As Needed. • Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIH • Years of Experience: 1+ • Float Requirements: As Needed/ Resource Team • Additional Notes:
Unit Information:
• Number of Beds: 20 • Patient Ratios: 5:1 to 6:1 • EHR: EPIC • Supervisor: • Patient Population e.g. “geriatric, adult, peds, etc.”: Serves all ages.
Hiring Profile:
• Must Have Skills/Experience: Tele/ Cardiac Step-down • Preferred Skillset/Experience: • Common Diagnosis/Treatment: Intermediate Cardiac Care Bedside and Telemetry monitoring. 20 Acute MI, ACS, Pulmonary Edema, CHF. Arrhythmia, Chest Pain Post op Carotid endarterectomy and stents Post AAA Post PCI, Interventional Cardiac Cath with Arterial lines IV infusion. • Personality Fit: Professional. • Required Education: Licensure/Certification needed to work as an RN in Pennsylvania.
