The Educational Sign Language Interpreter supports staff, students, and families by providing interpretation and translation services for deaf and hearing-impaired students. The interpreter also effectively facilitates communication between students who use sign language due to hearing loss, and students/teachers who do not.
Minimum Requirements:
- State Board of Education Initial Sign Language Interpreter Certificate (as applicable)
- Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA) certificate (as applicable per state regulation or client requirement)
- Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) certification (as applicable per state regulation or client requirement)
- Current CPR if applicable
- TB Questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable
- Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation)
- Must meet all federal, state and local requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age

EIPA: Not required to start. Will have to be willing to commit to taking the exam at some point in the school year. We will cover the fees associated.
Caseload: 1:1 or small group setting. Usually would be in max one-school per day or would just be assigned to one school total.
Start date: August 27, 2025 (May have training hours before start date)
End date: June 10, 2026
Hours: 37.5-40 hours
