The Teacher for the Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing teaches deafand hard-of-hearing pupils in a classroom setting. Instructs in academic subjects of regularcurriculum or adapted curriculum to meet needs of student population.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university preferred
- Valid state teaching certificate as required by stateregulations
- Knowledge in Sign Language and use of amplification devicesfor the deaf and hard-of-hearing
- Experience with deaf and hard-of-hearing students preferred
- ASL proficiency exam or Certification may be required perstate, contract or district
- Current CPR if applicable
- TB Questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable
- Current Health certificate (per contract or stateregulation)
- Must meet all federal, state and local requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age
