Are you passionate about making a difference in students’ lives? We are looking for a dedicated School Aide to support students with instructional and behavioral needs under the guidance of our special education department. You will also assist with personal, physical mobility, and therapeutic care needs as directed by health professionals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement IEP objectives in subjects like math, reading, speech, and independent skills, while managing behavioral challenges.
- Facilitate teacher-led activities including lesson plans, worksheets, small groups, social games, and classroom assistance.
- Support students in general education classes and communicate important information to teachers.
- Accompany students during recess, lunch, and community experiences.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding all student-related matters.
- Assist with programs prescribed by PT, OT, and SLP professionals.
- Help students develop self-care skills such as toileting, dressing, feeding, and personal hygiene.
- Aid in behavior management techniques as directed by teachers and other school professionals.
- Perform clerical duties like making copies, organizing the classroom, preparing materials, and scoring assignments.
- Assist with transfers and ambulation.
- Report changes in student status as directed by IHP/IEP.
Requirements:
- Adherence to professional standards of practice.
- Completion of Amergis’ Competency program (if applicable).
- Current CPR certification (if applicable).
- TB questionnaire, PPD, or chest x-ray (if applicable).
- Current health certificate (per contract or state regulation).
- Compliance with all federal, state, and local requirements.
- Successful completion of new hire training.
- Understanding of patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirements.
- Strong communication skills and proficiency in English.
- Computer proficiency.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
