RN Critical Care

The Critical Care Registered Nurse assumes responsibilityand accountability for the application of the nursing process and the deliveryof patient care in a variety of critical care settings. Consistently performsaccording to nursing standards and is accountable in managing patient care andassisting others in the management of patient care. Responsibilities includemonitoring, assessment, vital sign monitoring, ventilator management,medication administration, intravenous insertion and infusion, central linecare, catheters, and maintenance of a running record of the patient’s status.The Critical Care RN must be prepared at all times to perform cardiopulmonaryresuscitation and other lifesaving measures for the patients in their care.

Minimum Requirements: 

Evening/Night 12 hour shifts 1900-0730 Monday through Friday every other weekend required. 

PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown and telemetry required Pt Ratio – Gen Care ratio 1:4 IMC ratio 1:2 *** Must have experience in an Academic Level I or II trauma center or similar size hospital

 Inpatient RN travelers must have completed two years of acute care experience within the last 3 years in the specialty they are submitting to. This is a hard requirement. 

Licensure and Certification: Traveler must have WI nursing license or compact license from their permanent address state. 

BLS – must be certified through American Heart Association 

Floating – Travelers are the first. The Traveler may have shifts scheduled in multiple units depending on the current staffing needs within the facility. During the traveler’s assignment if the primary unit no longer has a need shifts will be re-assigned to another unit in order to complete contract. 

Parking: Permit required through UW Transportation if parking onsite https://transportation.wisc.edu/. Other transportation options are available: bus park ride private parking etc.
