We are excited to announce an opportunity for a dedicated Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) nurse in Houston Texas . The PACU nurse plays a crucial role in caring for patients who have undergone anesthesia, ensuring their safe recovery post-operation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Observing and treating patients post-operation.
  • Monitoring vital signs and levels of consciousness.
  • Ensuring sedation wears off properly and safely.
  • Identifying and managing any adverse reactions.

Position Details:

  • Local Rate: $47/hr
  • Travel Rate: $2136/wk
  • Start date 5/5

Shift Information:

  • Day Shift:
    • One RN: 0800-1830 (4 x 10-hour shifts)
    • Two RNs: 0930-1900 (4 x 10-hour shifts)
  • On-Call Shifts:
    • One weekday on-call shift (Monday through Friday) from 1900-0700 twice per month.
    • One weekend shift from 0700-0700 on Saturday and Sunday once per 13-week contract.

Unit Details:

  • Fast-paced post-anesthesia care unit.
  • Main operating room: 8 ORs and 3 minor procedure rooms.
  • Daily case volume: 40-55 cases.
  • Specializations: Pediatric surgical services including dental, ENT, general surgery, GI, gynecology, ophthalmology, urology, pain, and orthopedic procedures.
  • PACU: 20 post-anesthesia bays and 4 additional overflow bays in pre-op holding.
  • Phase I and Phase II recovery primarily completed in PACU.
