Facility Job Description: DSP
Direct Support Professional
Offer specialized clinical support and opportunities for multiple clients who possess a range of developmental disabilities, significantly challenging behavioral and/or psychiatric issues.
Responsibilities:
- Provide a therapeutic environment for the physical, medical, and mental health of clients
- Develop a clear assessment of the individual’s strengths, and basic needs
- Intervene in crisis situations to stabilize an individual by utilizing a high level of clinical judgment and effective communication with client’s team
- Complete daily activity logs, electronic health record documentation, administrative tasks incident/seizure reports, medical/medication logs in a clear and timely manner
Requirements:
- High School degree (or equivalent) required
- At least one year of experience in human services or combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge and skill has been acquired
- Valid driver’s License, and use of a personal vehicle
Opening #2: Adult DSP- Floater
Acute Direct Support Professional – After Hours Floater:
Provide specialized support to clients who possess a range of intellectual disabilities.
Responsibilities:
- Initiate constructive activities that address goals on a client’s Individual Support Agreement (treatment plan)
- Facilitate community inclusion, daily living, and skill acquisition
- Utilization of sound judgement and maintenance of calm demeanor during crisis
- Provide needed behavioral and/or mental health support
- Provide needed personal and/or medical care
- Work with a variety of clients in community and residential settings with a rotating schedule
Requirements:
- High School Degree or equivalent
- Experience in a human services or combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skill has been acquired
- Enjoy being physically active and have knowledge of Chittenden County resources
- Skill in de-escalation technique
- Valid driver’s License, use of a personal vehicle, and an acceptable driving record
