- 40 hours guaranteed weekly – year round!
- Students are 8-21 y/o
- Class size is about 7 students
- Classrooms are split between female and males
- Students have disabilities such as PTSD, Trauma, Behaivoral, Autism, etc
- All teachers are Licensed Special Education Teachers
- Work under supervision of classroom teacher.
- Assist in caring for physical needs of children.
- Supervise class when teacher is involved with individual students or in staffing.
- Attend staffing, departmental in-service meetings as assigned.
- Assist in keeping classroom and program supplies ready and well maintained.
- Maintain professional ethics in the building and out, regarding the discussion of pupils, and their conditions.
- Adhere to the Program and Agency policies.
- Provide services, under the supervision of the teacher, to individuals with varied behavior issues which may include physical aggression, verbal assault, inappropriate sexual comments, gestures and/or acts.
- Assist individuals with toileting and personal care needs when necessary.
- Assist with behavior management of children as outlined by Program and Agency policies. (No physical management for Autism Services staff).
- Transport students to and from group residences, activities, work, etc.
- If you are interested in a permanent position – this can very likely turn into a temp-perm opportunity. The contract is a good way to test if the position would be good fit for long term. Contract extensions are very likely going to be offered as well.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The Behavior Technician works to facilitate educational and behavioral services with children and adults with special needs and collaborates with school professionals and other behavioral specialists to achieve learning and behavioral goals and objectives.
Contract: 13 weeks (very likely will be offered an extension / temp to perm)
Interview Process: Interviews will be scheduled in person – onsite for a 2 hour period. The first 30 minutes would be a standard sit down interview. The following 90 minutes would be a shadow period where you would shadow the classroom and another Behavior Technician to see/feel if the position would be the right fit for you.
