Position Summary: The Rover RN School Nurse will provide comprehensive health services to students, promoting health and safety within the school and bus transportation environment. This role involves direct care, health education, and collaboration with school staff, parents, and community health providers to ensure the well-being of students.
Key Responsibilities:
- Health Assessments: Conduct health screenings and assessments for students, including vision, hearing, and scoliosis checks.
- Emergency Care: Provide first aid and emergency care for injuries and acute illnesses.
- Chronic Condition Management: Develop and implement care plans for students with chronic health conditions such as asthma, diabetes, and allergies.
- Medication Administration: Administer prescribed medications and maintain accurate records.
- Health Education: Educate students, staff, and parents on health-related topics, including nutrition, hygiene, and disease prevention.
- Immunization Compliance: Ensure student immunization records are up-to-date and comply with state regulations.
- Infection Control: Monitor and manage communicable diseases within the school setting.
- Collaboration: Work with teachers, counselors, and administrators to support student health and academic success.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate health records and documentation in compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Bus Duty: Occasionally ride the bus to fill shifts with special education children, ensuring their health and safety during transportation.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
- Licensure: Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Alabama.
- Experience: Previous experience in pediatric or school nursing is preferred.
- Skills: Strong assessment, communication, and organizational skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Working Conditions:
- Schedule: PRN to Full-time, Monday to Friday, during school hours.
