The School Psychologist works to support students through avariety of mental health and developmental issues and aid in qualifyingstudents for additional support services. The School Psychologist is responsible for providing on-sitepsychological services to students under the jurisdiction of the state anddistrict.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct Psychological Assessments: Evaluate students’ educational needs, learning characteristics, and social behavior to determine appropriate educational placement and instructional planning.
- Develop Case Studies: Create detailed case studies and file them in compliance with established policies and procedures.
- Interpret Findings: Communicate assessment results to principals, teachers, parents, students, and others directly concerned with the welfare of students.
- Facilitate Training: Provide training on interventions for use in the Response to Instruction and Intervention (RtI2) approach, targeted literacy, student progress monitoring, and data analysis.
- Participate in IEP and SST Meetings: Act as chairperson for school-site Individualized Educational Program (IEP) Team and Student Study Team (SST) meetings.
- Develop Educational Plans: Assist in creating written individual educational plans for students eligible for special education placement and/or services.
- Behavioral Objectives: Develop behavioral objectives for individual students and special class groups, and suggest implementation strategies.
- Counseling: Provide individual and group counseling to assist students in educational achievement and personal or social adjustment.
Minimum Requirements:
- Must maintain current State licensures and/or certificationsin state of assignment
- Experience in pediatric and adolescent population ispreferred
- Master’s degree in psychology preferred
- Current CPR if applicable
- TB Questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable
- Current Health certificate (per contract or stateregulation)
- Must meet all federal, state and local requirements
