Position: Addiction Counselor
Facility Type: Outpatient Mental Health Clinic
Location: Columbia, MD
Licensure accepted: LCADC
Population: Children, Adolescents and Adults
Schedule: Part Time
- Schedule is flexible between client and staff member, they open Monday-Saturday 9am-8pm so last session can be 7 pm.
- Part time hours starting out, for about 10-20 hours a week with patients added on as needed.
- Hybrid position depending on the patients’ needs the session can be either in person or telehealth.
Start Date: ASAP (~2 weeks following offer)
Contract Length: 18 weeks (opportunity for internal transition)
EssentialDuties/Responsibilities:
- Managing all aspects of a case from date of entry to date of discharge.
- Evaluating patients’ physical and mental behaviors.
- Developing appropriate treatment and recovery plans.
- Facilitating individual and group therapy sessions.
- Monitoring patients over time to access treatment progress.
- Collaborating with psychiatrists, doctors, nurses, social workers, and departments of correction.
- Identifying behaviors that interfere with treatment and recovery.
- Assisting primary caregivers to manage addiction-related behavior.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in psychology, sociology, social work or public health required
- Current license or certificate in addictions/substance abuse counseling in the state of assignment required
- Experience in behavioral health guidelines, to include behavioral health assessments, individual and group therapy, clinical management of patients with mental illness and / or substance abuse issues preferred
- Current CPR if applicable
- TB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable
- Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation)
- Must meet all federal, state and local requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age
