Are you passionate about empowering students and making a lasting impact in their lives? We are seeking a dedicated Special Education Teacher to join our team and provide specialized instruction in a Resource Room classroom setting. This full-time role (32.5 hours per week) offers a rewarding opportunity to work with high school students and help them achieve their goals.

Key Details:

·       Location:Detroit, MI

·       Compensation:$42/hour

·       Schedule:32.5 hours per week, Monday through Friday (No nights, weekends, orholidays)

·       GradeLevel: High School

·       Role:Resource Room classroom, providing pull-out services to support studentlearning

·       Duration:Remainder of the 2024–2025 school year

·       PayFrequency: Weekly pay

·       StartDate: Two weeks after offer acceptance

 

Qualifications:

  • A valid MI Teaching License is preferred, but candidates with substitute licenses are also encouraged to apply.
  • Proven experience writing and completing IEPs.
  • Experience working with high school students (9th–12th grade) is required.
  • Familiarity with Transition Plans and their development

 

PrimaryResponsibilities:

  • Provide pull-out services to support students’ individual learning needs in a Resource Room environment.
  • Collaborate with general education staff to create and implement effective educational plans.
  • Write and complete Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to each student’s goals.
  • Develop and implement Transition Plans to support students’ journey toward adulthood and post-secondary success.

The Special Education Teacher, under the direction of theSpecial Education Program Administrator provides quality services to specialeducation students, kindergarten through grade 12.  The Special Education Teacher has a commitmentto team participation in planning and implementation of student programsincluding special instruction, tutorial assistance and consultation withgeneral education staff.  

Minimum Requirements:  

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited universitypreferred 
  • Valid state teaching certificate as required by state,contract/district regulations 
  • Minimum of one year experience in teaching environmentpreferred 
  • State Teacher Certification; Type: Standard ElementaryTeaching preferred
  • State Teacher Certification; Type: Standard SecondaryTeaching preferred
  • State Teacher Certification; Type: Standard Special Teachingpreferred
  • Endorsement: Learning Behavior Specialist (LBS1) preferred
  • Current CPR if applicable 
  • TB Questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable 
  • Current Health certificate (per contract or stateregulation) 
  • Must meet all federal, state and local requirements 
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
