experience with vascular surgery population, as that is our heavy population
AAA repair
Carotid endartectomy
Fem- pop bypass and similar surgeries
Thrombectomy
experience with carotids, pneumonectomy, post thoracic surgery
experience with evar, intra aortic balloon pump, TAVR
Ratios: 1:2-3 for Unit patients, 1:4-5 for step-down acuity
Years of Experience REQ: 2 as RN, 1 travel

Certs REQ: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS

Will clinician float within scope to meet facility needs? Y

This is a mixed acuity unit
Job details: Can float to stepdown
Max ratio is 1:4- 1:5 and as low as 1:2, varying on the acuity of the patient.
BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
Travel exp. required
Assessment tools: Stroke signs/symptoms competency (ex. BE-FAST)
NIHSS Certified (current certificate on file, obtained w/in 2 years of start date)
Bedside Dysphagia screening competency (on file)
Minimum 1-year experience working in a certified stroke center critical care unit**preferred
Familiar with current Stroke guidelines and performance measures for Acute Ischemic and Hemorrhagic strokes
State licensure : KY/Compact in hand
Meditech experience preferred
65 mile radius restriction – No Locals

The Critical Care Registered Nurse assumes responsibility and accountability for the application of the nursing process and the delivery of patient care in a variety of critical care settings. Consistently performs according to nursing standards and is accountable in managing patient care and assisting others in the management of patient care. Responsibilities include monitoring, assessment, vital sign monitoring, ventilator management, medication administration, intravenous insertion and infusion, central line care, catheters, and maintenance of a running record of the patient’s status. The Critical Care RN must be prepared at all times to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation and other lifesaving measures for the patients in their care.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Utilizes the nursing process to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care
- Assesses signs and symptoms indicating physiologic and psychosocial changes in the patient’s condition
- Collects, documents, analyzes, and interprets data and other information from healthcare team members
- Communicates nursing interventions, expected outcomes and the time frames for expected completion to other members of the hospital health care team
- Functions as a resource to the health care team members in planning for patient’s discharge
- Documents the patient’s plan of care using identified nursing diagnoses, expected patient outcomes, and selected nursing interventions
- Provides a safe, comfortable and therapeutic environment
- Initiates and evaluates patient and/or family education
- Compares expected and actual outcomes of care and identifies deviation from the plan of care
- Adheres to facility/client policies, procedures and protocols at all times
- Performs other duties as assigned/necessary
Minimum Requirements:
- Current Registered Nurse License for the state in which the nurse practices
- One year of critical care experience is preferred
- Minimum of one year acute or critical care experience preferred
- Current BLS card; current ACLS/PALS card (per facility requirement)
- Complies with all relevant professional standards of practice
- Participation and completion of Amergis’ Competency program when applicable
- TB Questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable
- Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation)
- Must meet all federal, state and local requirements
- Successful completion of new hire training as applicable to job site
- Understand patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirements
- Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to and from appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors, co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in the English language is required
