The Behavior Technician works to facilitate educational andbehavioral services with children and adults with special needs andcollaborates with school professionals and other behavioral specialists toachieve learning and behavioral goals and objectives.

Minimum Requirements:

  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • Two (2) years of pediatric experience preferred
  • Current CPR if applicable
  • TB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable   
  • Must meet all federal, state and local requirements 
  • Must be at least 18 years of age

– Minimum 1 year BT experience

– ALL BTs must be comfortable with support students that display with verbal threats, self injurious behavior, stemming, aggression, and/or other behaviors

    • They will support where needed and if they are 1:1 and the student is out, they will be floated
    • MUST be able to lift up to 50lbs, be okay with diapering, positioning as needed, and collecting data (older students will NOT need toileting support)


 

– There are 3 programs within school

– Prek/blended, this is covered, but classroom associates could float to

– Self-contained multiple complex

– Community- where they head out to community part-time during week

– About the school

– Not a ton of turnover because they have great supports and everyone really enjoys what they do

– The needs are based on growth of the school, more students being enrolled

– Candidates need to know to expect a different type of school than normal public school setting- some students will be in wheelchairs, some use alternative forms of communication, etc.

– Full coffee bar from 7am-9:30am that is run by students and our staff will have access to

Paraprofessional License
60 College Credits
