Amergis Healthcare Staffing is partnered with a highly respected facility in Framingham, MA seeking Youth Advocate Counselors to provides counseling to males between the ages of 14-22 in a Staff Secured DYS Program.
*Male only Facility*
Position Details:
- Location: Framingham, MA
- Duration: 13 weeks to start, with the likelihood of extension
- Facility Type: DYS Program
- Schedule: 40 hours Thursday-Monday 3pm-11pm
- Salary: $25
- Engage actively with youth in a participatory and positive, strength based manner.
- Use principles and practices of youth development and trauma informed care to create a safe and therapeutic environment.
- Promote an inclusive, welcoming, and respectful environment that embraces diversity.
- Foster the youth’s skills and interests and mentor their positive development.
- Implement program activities and maintain safe and effective program operations.
- Promote responsible and healthy decision-making among youth.
- Complete necessary paperwork and reporting requirements.
- Act in an ethical and professional manner, and maintain clear boundaries with youth, co-workers and supervisor(s).
- Implement applicable safety and emergency requirements including use of crisis prevention and de-escalation skills.
- High School diploma and one-two years related experience with the population.
- Must be able to adhere to a model of care that focuses on Trauma Informed Care and Interventions.
- Demonstrates sound judgment and effective, solution focused, problem solving skills.
- Ability to develop and maintain professional working relationships with residents, staff, co-workers and supervisor.
- Ability to physically carry out Crisis Prevention Intervention techniques
- Participation and completion of Amergis’ Competency program when applicable
- Current CPR if applicable
- TB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable
- Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation)
- Must meet all federal, state and local requirements
- Successful completion of new hire training as applicable to job site
- Understand patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirements
- Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to and from appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors, co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in the English language is required
- Computer proficiency required
- Must be at least 18 years of age
