Glendale Unified School District – Floater BehaviorTechnician
Pay Rate: $24 – $27 /HR
Role Description:
- Substitute behavior technician for all GUSD schools.
- Assigned daily to cover absences in various schools and settings.
- Must be in or near Glendale by 7:45 AM for assignments.
- Flexible with traveling to different school sites.
- Duties include assisting with toileting, bathroom routines, and diaper changing.
- May cover high-acuity cases with severe problem behaviors.
Responsibilities:
- Provide instructional and behavioral support.
- Build rapport with students and staff quickly.
- Strong knowledge of ABA principles and data collection methods.
- Review student IEPs or BIPs for behavior management strategies.
- Use visual supports as needed.
- Assist with feeding and toileting students.
Supervision:
- Daily assignments communicated by the Special Ed. office.
- Must have strong communication skills and be a team player.
Duties:
- Support instruction for students with special needs.
- Monitor and report student behavior.
- Provide modeling, emotional support, and general guidance.
- Assist with personal care needs and emergency care.
Qualifications:
- Knowledge of children with disabilities, ABA methods, and behavior management.
- Ability to assist in Special Education environments and implement behavior techniques.
- Patient, calm, and able to handle stressful conditions.
- Physical ability to assist students with disabilities.
- Dependable, punctual, and maintain confidentiality.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Two years of study at a higher education institution or an Associate’s degree.
- One year of experience working with handicapped students, including those with autism.
- Valid California Class C driver’s license and insurability.
