School-Based Behavior Technician

Glendale Unified School District – Floater BehaviorTechnician

Pay Rate: $24 – $27 /HR

Role Description:

• Substitute behavior technician for all GUSD schools.
• Assigned daily to cover absences in various schools and settings.
• Must be in or near Glendale by 7:45 AM for assignments.
• Flexible with traveling to different school sites.
• Duties include assisting with toileting, bathroom routines, and diaper changing.
• May cover high-acuity cases with severe problem behaviors.

Responsibilities:

• Provide instructional and behavioral support.
• Build rapport with students and staff quickly.
• Strong knowledge of ABA principles and data collection methods.
• Review student IEPs or BIPs for behavior management strategies.
• Use visual supports as needed.
• Assist with feeding and toileting students.

Supervision:

• Daily assignments communicated by the Special Ed. office.
• Must have strong communication skills and be a team player.

Duties:

• Support instruction for students with special needs.
• Monitor and report student behavior.
• Provide modeling, emotional support, and general guidance.
• Assist with personal care needs and emergency care.

Qualifications:

• Knowledge of children with disabilities, ABA methods, and behavior management.
• Ability to assist in Special Education environments and implement behavior techniques.
• Patient, calm, and able to handle stressful conditions.
• Physical ability to assist students with disabilities.
• Dependable, punctual, and maintain confidentiality.

Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Two years of study at a higher education institution or an Associate’s degree.
• One year of experience working with handicapped students, including those with autism.
• Valid California Class C driver’s license and insurability.
