Hiring School LVNs !

The 1:1 School LPN/LVN identifies and treats health disorders among students in the school setting. The 1:1 School LPN/LVN provides instruction for the student’s general wellbeing and disease prevention. The School LPN/LVN monitors the student’s physical conditions in the school setting and refers the student to appropriate resources as needed.  The work of the School LPN/LVN is performed in compliance with his/her LPN/LVN scope of practice and according to state education codes.

Patient Care:

1. Provide direct, one-on-one care to assigned patients, ensuring their comfort and well-being.
2. Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and feeding.

Vital Signs Monitoring:

1. Regularly check and record patients’ vital signs, including temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration rates.
2. Report any significant changes or abnormalities to the supervising nurse or physician.

Medication Administration:

1. Administer prescribed medications and treatments accurately and on schedule.
2. Monitor patients for any adverse reactions or side effects.

Patient Education:

1. Educate patients and their families about health conditions, treatment plans, and self-care techniques.
2. Provide guidance on nutrition, exercise, and lifestyle modifications to support recovery.

Documentation:

1. Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, including care plans, progress notes, and medication logs.
2. Ensure all documentation is completed in a timely manner and complies with regulatory standards.

Communication:

1. Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members to coordinate care.
2. Participate in team meetings and care conferences to discuss patient progress and care strategies.

Emergency Response:

1. Respond promptly to patient emergencies, providing first aid or CPR as needed.
2. Follow established protocols for emergency situations and notify appropriate personnel.

Minimum Requirements:

• Current LPN/LVN license for the state in which the nurse practices
• Current PPD or Chest X-Ray
• One year prior professional nursing experience in school setting preferred
• Pediatric experience preferred
• Current BLS card
• Considerable knowledge of medical disorders and treatment
• Considerable knowledge of child growth and development
• Some knowledge of public health problems and procedures for treatment in coordination with other health and social service agencies
• Some knowledge of Federal, State, and Local laws and regulations affecting the delivery of school health services
• Understands the school organization and the community served
• Must be at least 18 years of age
