- Location: Schools in Sarasota, North Port and Surrounding Areas
- $48 per hour
- Weekly pay and Full Benefits Benefits (Health, Vision, Dental, 401K, Discounts and more)
- Full Time available
- Minimum Requirements: (1) Must be a licensed School Counselor in the state of FL (2) Master’s Degree required
- This is an in-person position
- Schedule: Monday – Friday
- Full school year (strong possibility of extending or going internal the following year)
- Work hours start and end based on grade level. Elementary, Middle School, High School available
- No Weekends, No Holidays required

The School Counselor/School Mental Health Worker provides counseling to students in need of counseling and/or support with their mental health needs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provides necessary counseling as required for the student and/or as outlined in the student’s IHP
- Evaluates the students’ psychosocial needs, and evaluates the progress
- Collaborates with all disciplines to plan and evaluate goals for each student
- Implements and manages school guidance programs
- Utilizes a variety of therapy techniques and treatment plans
- Works with students in individual, small group and/or classroom settings
- Facilitates student learning involving life skills, organization techniques and time management
- Assists students with creating an academic plan for their education
- Adheres to Amergis and District policies and procedures
Minimum Requirements:
- Licensing/Certification according to state/facility/contract requirement
- The Counselor may be required to have an Associate’s Degree, Bachelor’s Degree or Masters in Psychology, Addictions, Sociology, Social Work, Counseling, Nursing, or some other Human Development major per state, contract and/or facility guidelines.
- Complies with all relevant professional standards of practice
- Participation and completion of Amergis’ Competency program when applicable
- Current CPR if applicable
- TB Questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable
- Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation)
- Must meet all federal, state and local requirements
- Successful completion of new hire training as applicable to job site
- Understand patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirements
- Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to and from appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors, co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in the English language is required
- Computer proficiency required
