Duration: 13 weeks with an option to extend

Schedule: Full Time, Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM

Job Description:

Amergis is seeking highly qualified Family Nurse Practitioners or Acute Care Nurse Practitioners to join our team. This is a unique opportunity to provide acute care, infirmary, and emergency medicine services in a correctional setting.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide comprehensive acute care and emergency medical services to inmates
• Manage a variety of cases and procedures in the infirmary
• Utilize paper charting for medical records
• Collaborate with a full supporting cast of RNs, Behavioral Health Therapists, Psychologists, and Physicians
• Perform suturing and other in-office procedures as needed
• Stabilize patients and coordinate transfers to local hospitals for serious conditions

Requirements:

• Valid DEA and BLS certifications
• Ability to prescribe autonomously (no collaborative agreement required)
• VA State License (no licensure candidates)
• Minimum of 3 years of NP experience required for autonomous prescriptive authority

Additional Information:

• Must have experience in critical care and comfortable working independently in the infirmary
• No on-call or callback duties
• Patient volume varies; more details will be provided upon request

• On-site shadowing for orientation
• Onboarding requirements typically taking 2 to 3 weeks
