The Psychologist plans, conducts and coordinates all aspectsof diagnostic assessment, evaluations and therapeutic interventions. The psychologist must demonstrateprofessional knowledge of, and skill in applying a wide range of theories,principles, and methodologies of the practice of Psychology; to a wide range ofpopulations. The Psychologist is an independent practitioner.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Conducts, plans, and coordinates clinical and administrativeaspects of a full range of services associated with contemporary Psychologypractice
- Reviews patient histories and social work evaluations andcompletes patient interviews
- Completes independent diagnostic assessment and evaluationof cases referred for psychology services without limitation as to difficultyor complexity and is completely accountable for adequacy of the assessment
- Cooperates in formulating diagnostic and clinical judgments
- Assesses patient condition from close observation andconsults with other members of the healthcare team
- Utilizes all diagnostic and evaluative procedures andtechniques consistent with contemporary psychology practices
- Plans, conducts, coordinates and monitors the effectivenessand clinical outcomes of patient-centered treatment and rehabilitative services
- Develops and implements an effective and comprehensivetreatment plan of care in collaboration with other healthcare professionals
- Establishes and maintains effective therapy based onrelationships with patient and/or family
- Adjusts treatment plan based on patient response andprogress
- Uses a bio-psychosocial paradigm to evaluate mental status,formulate diagnosis and develop a detailed treatment plan
- Offers patient other therapeutic interventions as necessaryincluding but not limited to, crisis intervention and referral for psychiatrichospitalization, behavior modification therapy, cognitive behavior therapy, aswell as family and marital therapy
- May participates in service and department peer review
- Works in all healthcare disciplines to coordinateevaluations, treatment planning and referrals
- Documents according to facility policy
Minimum Requirements:
- Doctoral degree in clinical or counseling psychology from anaccredited college or University with a curriculum in Psychology approved bythe American Psychological
- Association (APA) Current valid unrestricted license topractice in the specialty of Psychology
- Certified documentation of education, training and licenseper state/contract requirement
- Minimum of (1) one year relevant work experience preferred
- Complies with all relevant professional standards ofpractice
- Participation and completion of Amergis’ Competency programwhen applicable
- Current CPR if applicable
- TB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable
- Current Health certificate (per contract or stateregulation)
- Must meet all federal, state and local requirements
- Successful completion of new hire training as applicable tojob site
- Understand patient confidentiality and HIPAArequirements
- Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to andfrom appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors,co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in theEnglish language is required
