Sign Language Interpreter

Location: Elementary School, Wilson, NC

Position Type: Full-Time

Start Date: 1/15-2/1

 

Job Description:

Weare seeking a dedicated and compassionate Sign Language Interpreter to supporta 4th grade male student in the Wilson, NC area. The ideal candidate willfacilitate communication between the student, teachers, and peers, ensuring aninclusive and supportive learning environment.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide sign language interpretation for the student during classroom instruction, activities, and school events.
  • Collaborate with teachers and staff to adapt educational materials and strategies to meet the student’s needs.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of Individualized Education Plans (IEPs).
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards.

 

Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL).
  • Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment
  • Experience working with children, preferably in an educational setting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and a commitment to supporting the student’s educational journey.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Deaf Education, Interpretation, or a related field.
  • Previous experience working with elementary school students.
  • Knowledge of educational software and tools.
