Amergis Staffing is hiring for a Teacher for the Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing for the current school year. The DHH teacher teaches deaf and hard-of-hearing pupils in a classroom setting. Instructs in academic subjects of regular curriculum or adapted curriculum to meet needs of student population.
What We Offer:
- Monday-Friday schedule (between the hours of 7:30am-4pm)
- Pay: $45 – 47 / hr
- Weekly pay!
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university
- Valid CA Teaching License
- Valid Deaf and Hard of Hearing Certificate
- Knowledge in Sign Language and use of amplification devices for the deaf and hard-of-hearing
- Experience with deaf and hard-of-hearing students
- ASL proficiency exam or Certification required
- Complies with all relevant professional standards of practice
- Participation and completion of Amergis’ Competency program when applicable
- Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to and from appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors, co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in the English language is required
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develops and implements lesson plans
- Utilizes the use of technical and specialized equipment for students with hearing loss
- Prepares lessons that accommodate learning styles
- Communicates by way of sign/spoken language as appropriate
- Assists in the selection of instructional materials and equipment
- Provides training to students or staff to facilitate the child’s learning, inclusion and independence
- Assesses student learning styles and uses results to plan educational activities
- Conducts assessments of student progress and achievement using testing methodology
- Compiles reports, records, and documents as required
- Participates in IEP meetings with parents, teachers, students, and other School District staff
