Amergis Educational Staffing is partnered with a school in Attleboro, MA to hire an Occupational Therapist Assistant to work with students on a contractual basis.
Details of the Position Include:
Location: Attleboro, MA
Duration: Remainder of the 2024/2025 school year
Start Date: ASAP
Schedule: Flexible schedule, 3 days per week, 8:30am-3:30pm
Requirements: Active MA COTA License
Pediatric Experience Preferred
Pay Rate: Up to $45/hour

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provides interventions to impact the student’s functional ability (muscle function, endurance, visual coordination, written and verbal communication skills, self-care ability, work capacity, etc.) as delegated by the Occupational Therapist
- Understands the role of therapy in the context of the student’s age, total needs perspective and ability
- Participates in the ongoing assessment of the student’s school environment for equipment needs, and the reduction of barriers or safety risks
- Teaches new skills or retrains students in once-familiar daily activities that have become difficult or unfamiliar due to illness or injury
- Consistently reports to the Occupational Therapist regarding student progress/status to promote modification of treatment program and any adverse outcomes
- Maintains timely, legible, and efficient student documentation
- Notes remain concise, pertinent and meet district and practice documentation standards
- Instructs student in the use of various types of adaptive equipment and/or splints to improve function
- Ensures equipment is in good working order
- May utilize physical agents, including but not limited to heat, cold, water, light, electricity, ultrasound and massage
- Identifies student needs for other supportive services and notifies the Occupational Therapist
- Reports student’s reactions(s) to treatment or change(s) in condition to the physician and Occupational Therapist
- Prepares and submits clinical progress-summaries based on the progress toward goals and responses to treatment
- Participates in case conferences, meetings and in-service education
- Complies with applicable local, state, and federal laws and regulations regarding professional standards and practice standards
- Performs other duties as assigned/necessary
Minimum Requirements:
- Current certification or licensure as an Occupational Therapy Assistant in the state of practice
- Graduate of an accredited school of Occupational Therapy Assistant required
- One (1) year of experience as an Occupational Therapy Assistant preferred
- Pediatric experience preferred
- Complies with all relevant professional standards of practice
- Participation and completion of Amergis’ Competency program when applicable
- Current CPR if applicable
- TB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable
- Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation)
- Must meet all federal, state and local requirements
- Successful completion of new hire training as applicable to job site
- Understand patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirements
- Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to and from appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors, co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in the English language is required
- Computer proficiency required
