Hours: 36 hours/week 

Shift: 

  • Day/Night rotating

Requirements:

  • 2+ year of ICU experience
  • Neuro devices experience required
  • Active Massachusetts Registered Nurse License
  • COVID Vaccine + Booster

Pay Rate:

  • $2,652 /week for Travel Candidates
  • Local Pay also available

The RN – Neuro ICU assumes responsibility and accountability for the application of the nursing process and the delivery of patient care in the neuro critical care setting. The Neuro ICU RN consistently performs according to nursing standards and is accountable in managing patient care and recognizing change in patient’s conditions.  The Neuro ICU RN must be alert and prepared at all times to respond to emergent situations and they must also be able to remain calm and professional in times of crisis. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Utilizes the nursing process to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care
  • Assesses signs and symptoms indicating physiologic and psychosocial changes in the patient’s condition
  • Monitors patients for signs of brain death and herniation
  • Understands and is able to assess reflexive movement
  • Appropriately performs medication administration
  • Able to initiate and manage multiple IV lines, drains, tubing, catheters, and equipment used in patient monitoring
  • Provides palliative and end-of-life care when necessary
  • Communicates nursing interventions, expected outcomes and the time frames for expected completion to members of health care team, patent, and patient families
  • Functions as a resource to the health care team members in planning for patient’s discharge
  • Documents the patient’s plan of care using identified nursing diagnoses, expected patient outcomes, and selected nursing interventions
  • Provides a safe, comfortable and therapeutic environment
  • Initiates and evaluates patient and/or family education
  • Adheres to facility/client policies, procedures and protocols at all times
  • Performs other duties as assigned/necessary

Minimum Requirements:

  • Current Registered Nurse License for the state in which the nurse practices
  • One year of critical care experience is preferred
  • Current BLS card; current ACLS/PALS card (per facility requirement)
  • Complies with all relevant professional standards of practice 
  • Participation and completion of Amergis’ Competency program when applicable
  • TB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable 
  • Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation) 
  • Must meet all federal, state and local requirements 
  • Successful completion of new hire training as applicable to job site 
  • Understand patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirements  
  • Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to and from appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors, co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in the English language is required  
  • Computer proficiency required
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
