Under the direction of the Dean or Assistant Dean, theAdjunct Nursing Instructor LPN is responsible for the supervision and teachingof students during the clinical placement portion of nursing courses and forassisting the student in achieving clinical course objectives. The Adjunct Nursing Instructor LPN isresponsible for teaching and learning curriculum development. Service to the college, community, healthsystem, and profession are integral aspects of the Adjunct Nursing InstructorLPN role.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Implements the college’s philosophy, curriculum, programoutcomes, and course objectives through clinical teaching, and service to thecollege, community, health system and profession
- Assumes responsibility for all autonomous aspects ofindividual teaching loads
- Plans clinical experiences for and provides supervision andevaluation of nursing students delivering nursing care to an individual orgroup of individuals
- Makes self-available to staff at clinical affiliation site
- Evaluates and provides documented feedback to students onlevel of performance based on course objectives
- Available to students for remediation as needed
- Oversees students in both the lab and clinic setting
- Provides learning opportunities to students in the clinicsetting
- Orients and maintains current knowledge related toagency/clinical policies, procedures, and expectations with the assistance ofagency/clinical personnel
- Develops and posts written clinical assignments consistentwith student’s knowledge base, skill competency level and individual learningneeds
- Reviews and grades written assignments submitted by studentsin a timely manner per protocol
- Contributes to ongoing development, implementation, andevaluation of the college’s programs
- May teach didactic course content under the supervision ofthe course coordinator
- Communicates all student and/or agency issues and concernsto course coordinator in a timely manner
- Understands and complies with laws pertaining to disclosureof student records
- Complies with all applicable regulatory rules and standardsand state scope of practice
Minimum Requirements:
- Current Licensed Professional Nursing license for the statein which the nurse is working/teaching
- Practices/ educates under the supervision and guidance ofthe RN
- 3 years of equivalent experience preferred
- Complies with all relevant professional standards ofpractice
- Participation and completion of Amergis’ Competency programwhen applicable
- Current CPR if applicable
- TB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable
- Current Health certificate (per contract or stateregulation)
- Must meet all federal, state and local requirements
- Successful completion of new hire training as applicable tojob site
- Understand patient confidentiality and HIPAArequirements
- Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to andfrom appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors,co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in theEnglish language is required
- Computer proficiency required
