Maryland Social Work License at the LCSW-C level

Can consider active advance clinical license from out of state. Would be need to be equivlant to a Maryland LCSW-C. Prior to clearance, a complete application must be in process with the Maryland Board. 

Must have Master’s in social work

Skills

MUST have hospital experience. Highly prefer exp in Oncology. Will consider Palliative/hospice care experience. 

**Please keep in mind- Oncology Social work is a specialized field, needing a specialized skill-set and most often the successful candidate has had one of the following (a seasoned healthcare SW background, experience working in an oncology setting, experience in a healthcare specialty practice setting

MUST HAVE EPIC EXPERIENCE

Experience working in the psychological, social, emotional, financial and practical care domains.

The Medical Social Worker collaborates with themultidisciplinary team to provide input in the development of the plan of carefor those patients requiring social work intervention.  The Medical Social Worker provides medicallynecessary intervention to patients who have social or emotional problems thatare, or are expected to be, impediment(s) to the effective treatment of themedical condition and/or rate of recovery. Additionally, the Medical Social Worker provides these services inaccordance with physician’s orders.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provides medically necessary social work intervention inaccordance with physician’s orders
  • Assesses patient’s psychosocial needs; plans for, evaluates,and modifies interventions to meet the established patient goals
  • Collaborates with other disciplines to plan and evaluateteam goals for each patient
  • Facilitates patient referrals to community agencies whenappropriate
  • Provides financial counseling when necessary to achieve thetreatment goals established by the multidisciplinary team
  • Assists patient/family/caregivers in planning for presentand future psychosocial needs related to the patient’s current status andprognosis, including terminal illness
  • Adheres to company policies and procedures while providingservices and preparing/submitting required paperwork
  • Observes and reports patient progress and/or changes inpatient status to physician and appropriate multidisciplinary team members
  • Functions as a resource person for other members of thehealth care team, providing inservice education and consultation inunderstanding the social and emotional factors related to health problems.
  • Maintains knowledge of the field including Medicare,Medicaid, and other third-party reimbursement sources.
  • Participates in planning and implementing qualityimprovement activities as necessary
  • Provides positive experiences in assisting patients,families, physicians, other departmental employees, referral resources, serviceagencies, and others.
  • Adheres to facility and Amergis policies at all times

Minimum Requirements:

  • Baccalaureate degree in Social Work (BSW) or Master’s degreefrom a school of social work accredited by the Council on Social Work Educationper state/client requirements required
  • Minimum of one (1) year of social work experience in ahealth care environment in the last two years preferred
  • Complies with all relevant professional standards ofpractice 
  • Participation and completion of Amergis’ Competency programwhen applicable
  • Current CPR if applicable
  • TB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable 
  • Current Health certificate (per contract or stateregulation) 
  • Must meet all federal, state and local requirements 
  • Successful completion of new hire training as applicable tojob site 
  • Understand patient confidentiality and HIPAArequirements  
  • Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to andfrom appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors,co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in theEnglish language is required  
  • Computer proficiency required 
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
