The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) performs directpatient care under the direct supervision of a RN or LPN/LVN or other licensedmedical professional. The CNA/NA performs a variety of individualized patient careactivities and related non-professional services necessary in caring for thepersonal needs and comforts of patients.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintains patient confidentiality of all clients
  • Performs duties within scope of practice, as assigned, in anaccurate and timely manner
  • Adheres to facility/client policy, procedures and protocolsat all times
  • Assists doctors, nurses, and other healthcare providers withtreatments, procedures, and tests being performed in a variety of patient caresettings
  • Safeguards the client/patient by observing appropriateinfection control procedures including but not limited to universal precautions
  • Notifies the supervising nurse of any abnormal findings orconditions
  • Demonstrates flexibility and adaptability in meeting theneeds of all facilities
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements:

  • Prefer one year experience as a certified nursing assistantwithin the last three years
  • Graduate from certified nursing assistant program withsubsequent documentation as a certified nursing assistant per staterequirements with proof of verification as being an active certification and ingood-standing
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and knowledge of clericalfunctions
  • Complies with all relevant professional standards ofpractice 
  • Participation and completion of Amergis’ Competency programwhen applicable
  • Current CPR if applicable
  • TB Questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable 
  • Current Health certificate (per contract or stateregulation) 
  • Must meet all federal, state and local requirements 
  • Successful completion of new hire training as applicable tojob site 
  • Understand patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirements
  • Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to andfrom appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors,co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in theEnglish language is required  
  • Computer proficiency required 
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
