The Mammography Technologist performs a variety of technicalactivities associated with the performance of screening and diagnosticmammography procedures. The MammographyTechnologist uses specialized X-ray equipment to take images of the breasttissue and work with radiologists to interpret the results. The Mammography Technologist helps detectbreast cancers early to improve the chances of successful treatment andsurvival.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Performs a variety of tasks involving the operation ofmammographic radiographic equipment and other equipment/devices as appropriate
- Explains mammography procedure to all patients; answers anypatient questions or concerns
- Positions patients, using immobilization when necessary
- Calculates exposure factors, and assist physicians
- Performs the quality control functions related tomammography
- Evaluates radiographs for diagnostic quality obtainingadditional images as needed
- Prepares and sets up medical supplies using aseptictechniques if appropriate. Explainsprocedures to patients prior to start and ongoing
- Develops mammography film and match with the appropriatepaperwork for interpretation
- Assists in maintenance and compilation of statistical data
- Adheres to all Amergis and worksite rules, policies andprocedures
- Other duties as assigned
Minimum Requirements:
- Current State License or Certificate in state where theywill be working
- One (1) year of experience as a Mammography Technician preferred.
- Good interpersonal skills and ability to accuratelycommunicate with patients
- Complies with all relevant professional standards ofpractice
- Participation and completion of Amergis’ Competency programwhen applicable
- Current CPR if applicable
- TB Questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable
- Current Health certificate (per contract or stateregulation)
- Must meet all federal, state and local requirements
- Successful completion of new hire training as applicable tojob site
- Understand patient confidentiality and HIPAArequirements
- Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to andfrom appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors,co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in theEnglish language is required
- Computer proficiency required
