The 1:1 School LPN/LVN identifies and treats healthdisorders among students in the school setting. The 1:1 School LPN/LVN providesinstruction for the student’s general wellbeing and disease prevention. TheSchool LPN/LVN monitors the student’s physical conditions in the school settingand refers the student to appropriate resources as needed.  The work of the School LPN/LVN is performedin compliance with his/her LPN/LVN scope of practice and according to stateeducation codes.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provides first aid care and medically prescribed services
  • Maintains security of school health supplies and medicationin the school setting
  • Provides follow-up evaluations on students as required
  • Corresponds with parents on health needs of children
  • Records immunizations, health findings, and other relevanthealth data
  • Identifies abnormal growth and development, symptoms ofdisease and discuss with parents
  • Develops and maintains health records on students
  • Develops positive working relationships
  • Supports student medical needs during transport asapplicable

Minimum Requirements:

  • Current LPN/LVN license for the state in which the nursepractices
  • Current PPD or Chest X-Ray
  • One year prior professional nursing experience in schoolsetting preferred
  • Pediatric experience preferred
  • Current BLS card
  • Considerable knowledge of medical disorders and treatment
  • Considerable knowledge of child growth and development
  • Some knowledge of public health problems and procedures fortreatment in coordination with other health and social service agencies
  • Some knowledge of Federal, State, and Local laws andregulations affecting the delivery of school health services
  • Understands the school organization and the community served
  • Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to andfrom appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors,co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in theEnglish language is required
  • Computer proficiency preferred
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
