CVICU RN – Cardiothoracic Surgery

Requirements:

  • 3+ years of recent and consecutive CVICU and Cardiothoracic Surgery RN exp. in Hospital setting
  • ACLS, BLS
  • EPIC experience
  • Previous Travel RN exp.
  • BSN RN preferred

Location: Palo Alto, CA

Start date: 

Duration: 13 weeks, possible extensions

Unit: CVICU – Cardiothoracic Surgery

Shift: Days (7am-7pm), Nights (7pm-7am), Rotating

Hours: 3x12s, 36 hours/week

Requirements: CA RN License, Minimum 3 years of recent and consecutive CVICU and Cardiothoracic Surgery RN experienceEPIC experience, BLS, ACLS

The Coronary Care Registered Nurse is a professional nurse who coordinates the delivery of nursing care for critically ill, post-operative, ventilator, post cardiac arrest, post heart cath, hemodynamic stabilization and other critically ill patients in the units.  The Registered Nurse responds to codes and emergent situations as a team member within the hospital.  The Registered Nurse participates in patient and family teaching, and provides leadership by working cooperatively with ancillary and other patient team personnel in maintaining standards of professional nursing practice in the intensive care/coronary care setting.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Handles multiple priorities, utilizing independent discretion/decision-making skills
  • Performs admission assessment within the shift or in accordance with specific unit standards
  • Plan of care includes nursing diagnosis statement for each identified problem
  • Evaluates the identified problems, care provided, and patient’s responses are reassessed in order to meet patient and family needs to assure overall quality of care delivered
  • Maintains up-to-date and accurate documentation of nursing care provided to assure the integration of information for use by the health care team, in order to assure quality care
  • Practices within legal boundaries of Nurse Practice Act and according to Hospital policy and procedures
  • Properly demonstrates the ability to care for a patient with hemodynamic monitoring including insertion, monitoring, interpretation, and care of the catheter
  • Properly cares for the patient with continuous cardiac monitoring, ventilators, thrombolytic protocols, ICP monitoring, and pacemaker insertions
  • Monitors and interprets heart rhythms
  • Performs all responsibilities/duties required by the Critical Care Division as defined in the scope of service to ensure that the unique nature of the client is addressed • Performs other duties as assigned/necessary

Minimum Requirements:

  • RN License in state which the nurse will be practicing
  • Demonstrated proficiency in acute care nursing, knowledge and skills
  • 2 years of cardiac care experience preferred
  • ACLS may be required per state/client contract
  • Complies with all relevant professional standards of practice 
  • Participation and completion of Amergis’ Competency program when applicable
  • Current CPR if applicable
  • TB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable 
  • Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation) 
  • Must meet all federal, state and local requirements 
  • Successful completion of new hire training as applicable to job site 
  • Understand patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirements  
  • Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to and from appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors, co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in the English language is required  
  • Computer proficiency required 
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
