13 week assignment with a high likelihood of extension
The Ultrasound Technologist performs a variety of specializedtechnical tasks utilizing high frequency ultrasound waves to assist with thedetection of medical conditions or abnormalities by producing images of theinside of a patient’s body.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Performs a variety of complex specialized tasks utilizingultrasonic high-frequency sound waves to detect but not limited toabnormalities including masses, abscesses, and stones
- Assists physicians with biopsy procedures, guiding biopsyinstruments using sonographic techniques
- Utilizes accessory equipment such as transducers,multi-format cameras, printers, and PACS workstations
- Prepares patients for procedures and explains procedures topatients
- Reports changes in patient condition to medical staff
- Provides an oral and written summary of preliminary findingsto the radiologist
- Evaluates the quality of sonograms and determines ifadditional sonograms or ultrasound procedures are indicated
- Maintains patient records following facility policy andprocedure
- Performs ultrasound procedures, doppler vascularexaminations, abdominal studies and colorflow ultrasound, OB-GYN procedures asrequired
- Collaborates in quality control of equipment and filming andobtains service as required
- Proficient in the performance of ultrasound procedures
- Performs other duties as assigned/necessary
Minimum Requirements:
- A certification from an accredited ultrasound school
- One year of experience as an ultrasound technicianpreferred.
- Complies with all relevant professional standards ofpractice
- Participation and completion of Amergis’ Competency programwhen applicable
- Current CPR if applicable
- TB Questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable
- Current Health certificate (per contract or stateregulation)
- Must meet all federal, state and local requirements
- Successful completion of new hire training as applicable tojob site
- Understand patient confidentiality and HIPAArequirements
- Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to andfrom appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors,co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in theEnglish language is required
- Computer proficiency required
