Ultrasound Technologist

Must have MFM experience

Setting: Outpatient

13 week assignment with a high likelihood of extension

The Ultrasound Technologist performs a variety of specializedtechnical tasks utilizing high frequency ultrasound waves to assist with thedetection of medical conditions or abnormalities by producing images of theinside of a patient’s body.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Performs a variety of complex specialized tasks utilizingultrasonic high-frequency sound waves to detect but not limited toabnormalities including masses, abscesses, and stones
• Assists physicians with biopsy procedures, guiding biopsyinstruments using sonographic techniques
• Utilizes accessory equipment such as transducers,multi-format cameras, printers, and PACS workstations
• Prepares patients for procedures and explains procedures topatients
• Reports changes in patient condition to medical staff
• Provides an oral and written summary of preliminary findingsto the radiologist
• Evaluates the quality of sonograms and determines ifadditional sonograms or ultrasound procedures are indicated
• Maintains patient records following facility policy andprocedure
• Performs ultrasound procedures, doppler vascularexaminations, abdominal studies and colorflow ultrasound, OB-GYN procedures asrequired
• Collaborates in quality control of equipment and filming andobtains service as required
• Proficient in the performance of ultrasound procedures
• Performs other duties as assigned/necessary

Minimum Requirements:

• A certification from an accredited ultrasound school 
• One year of experience as an ultrasound technicianpreferred.
• Complies with all relevant professional standards ofpractice 
• Participation and completion of Amergis’ Competency programwhen applicable
• Current CPR if applicable
• TB Questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable 
• Current Health certificate (per contract or stateregulation) 
• Must meet all federal, state and local requirements 
• Successful completion of new hire training as applicable tojob site 
• Understand patient confidentiality and HIPAArequirements  
• Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to andfrom appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors,co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in theEnglish language is required  
• Computer proficiency required 
• Must be at least 18 years of age
