Minimum Requirements:

  • Must be licensed through NC Board of Occupational Therapy
  • Minimum one (1) year of experience required
  • School experience is preferred, will accept candidates with strong pediatrics experience
  • Previous experience with eCats 
**Must have NC School OT and eCats experience to qualify as traveler**

Job Details:
  • Caleload:  50-60
  • supervise COTA
  • handle evals, supervision, paperwork
  • floating across 4-5 schools (don’t have specific schools yet)  — these will be based on proximity to minimize travel
    • ideally will not be traveling multiple schools in same day
    • no mileage reimbursement

The Occupational Therapist (OT) is responsible for performing student evaluations, developing and providing therapy services, and documenting services in accordance with the plan of care developed for each student.   

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provides skilled occupational therapy services/interventionsin accordance with physician orders
  • Regularly reevaluates student for rehabilitation needs, andworks in collaboration with the physician and other members of the healthcareteam to modify the plan of care as appropriate
  • Collaborates with all disciplines to plan and evaluate teamgoals for each student
  • Assesses student’s needs, plans for, evaluates and modifiescare to meet goals of Occupational Therapy Interventions
  • Instructs student/family/caregivers on the student’s totaloccupational therapy program
  • Advises, consults and instructs members of themulti-disciplinary team in specific occupational therapy modalities
  • Observes and reports student progress and/or changes instudent status to the physician and appropriate multi-disciplinary team members
  • Directs OT treatment and develops occupational therapy planof care
  • Refers individuals to other disciplines as deemedappropriate and as approved by the physician
  • Reports reaction to treatment and adverse signs and symptomsto the physician, building/district nurse and the parents/caregivers
  • Teaches new skills or retrains students in once-familiardaily activities that have become difficult or unfamiliar due to illness orinjury
  • Establishes equipment needs to facilitate independentfunctioning
  • Instructs student and family/caregiver in the use of varioustypes of adaptive equipment to improve function; ensures equipment is in goodworking order
  • Trains student and family/caregiver in use of prostheticand/or orthotic devices
  • Provides accurate and timely documentation according to theplan of care
  • Participates in IEP conferences or other meetings asrequired to ensure coordination of health services (if applicable)
  • Prepares and submits clinical progress-summary based on theprogress of goals
  • Supervises Occupational Therapy Assistants according tocompany policies/procedures and State regulations
  • Complies with applicable local, state, and federal laws andregulations regarding professional standards and practice standards
  • May fabricate splints and instruct individual and/orfamily/caregiver in the use, application and benefits
  • Performs other duties as assigned/necessary

Minimum Requirements:

  • Current licensure as an Occupational Therapist in the Stateof practice
  • One (1) year of prior professional Occupational Therapyexperience preferred
  • Participation and completion of Amergis’ Competency programwhen applicable
  • Current CPR if applicable
  • TB Questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable
  • Current Health certificate (per contract or stateregulation)
  • Must meet all federal, state and local requirements
  • Successful completion of new hire training as applicable tojob site
  • Understand patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirements
  • Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to andfrom appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors,co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in theEnglish language is required
  • Computer proficiency required
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
