Special Education Teacher (Life Skills) | Huntsville, TX | Full-Time | 36-Week Contract | $46/hr Local or $1,900/week Travel

Amergis Educational Staffing is seeking a Special Education Teacher (Life Skills) to provide quality services to elementary students. Under the direction of the Special Education Program Administrator, the teacher will plan and implement individualized student programs, provide special instruction, tutorial assistance, and collaborate with general education staff.

Position Overview

• Location: Huntsville, TX

• Start Date: December 15, 2025

• Duration: 36 weeks (25–26 school year)

• Openings: 4 positions available

• Grade Level: Elementary

• Classroom Type: Life Skills (self-contained)

• Schedule: Monday–Friday, school hours (37.5 hours/week)

• Modality: Fully in-person

• Interview Process: In-person interviews with SPED Director and Principal

• Pay Rate: $46/hour local OR $1,900/week travel

Responsibilities

• Provide instruction and case management for elementary students in Life Skills classrooms

• Implement individualized education programs (IEPs)

• Collaborate with general education staff and classroom support teams

• Deliver special instruction and tutorial assistance

• Support behavior management and student success

• Day-to-day duties and classroom support will be discussed during the interview

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university (preferred)

• Valid Texas Special Education teaching certificate (required for elementary level)

• Generalist or Core Certification for elementary level (required)

• If certifications are missing: 5+ years of experience as a Special Education Teacher in a Life Skills classroom

• Experience working in a Life Skills (self-contained) setting preferred

• Current CPR certification, if applicable

• TB questionnaire, PPD, or chest x-ray, if applicable

• Current health certificate (per contract or state regulation)

• Must meet all federal, state, and local requirements

• Must be at least 18 years of age
