As a Behavior Technician with Amergis, you will play a critical role in supporting school-age students with significant behavioral challenges, including those on the Autism Spectrum and with emotional or developmental disabilities. This position is highly interactive and hands-on, requiring a calm, resilient, and proactive approach to managing aggressive, disruptive, or self-injurious behaviors in a structured educational setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct, hands-on behavioral support to students exhibiting high-intensity behaviors, including physical aggression, elopement, and non-compliance.
- Maintain a safe, consistent, and therapeutic environment, using crisis intervention techniques when necessary.
- Implement individualized behavior intervention plans (BIPs) and support the goals outlined in students’ Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
- Assist students throughout their daily routines, including transitions, academic tasks, and social activities, while promoting emotional regulation and skill development.
- Accurately collect and document behavioral data to monitor progress and inform treatment adjustments.
- Collaborate closely with teachers, behavior analysts, therapists, and other team members to ensure cohesive and effective support strategies.
- Participate in ongoing training, including de-escalation techniques, physical intervention protocols, and trauma-informed care practices.
Ideal Candidate:
- Comfortable working in high-stress environments with students who may be physically aggressive or emotionally dysregulated.
- Experienced in behavior management, ABA principles, or crisis intervention (CPI, Safety-Care, or similar certifications preferred).
- Patient, empathetic, and committed to helping students achieve meaningful behavioral and academic growth.
- Competitive pay & weekly paychecks
- Health, dental, vision, and life insurance
- 401(k) savings plan
- Awards and recognition programs
