Job Title: School Registered Nurse (RN)
Location: South Milwaukee, WI
Setting: Elementary School District – Covers 4 Elementary Schools
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM (40 hours/week)
Pay Rate: $40/hour
Start Date: ASAP
Contract Duration: ASAP Start – Remainder of the School Year

Position Overview:

The School Registered Nurse (RN) plays a vital role in supporting the physical, mental, and emotional well-being of students across four elementary schools in South Milwaukee. This position oversees the application of the nursing process and the delivery of student care in a school setting, ensuring the health and safety of students while serving as a liaison between families, school staff, and healthcare providers.

The School RN will supervise health aides at each school, manage communicable disease protocols, oversee student health plans, and collaborate closely with the Middle/High School nurse. This is a district-wide role with all schools located within a two-mile radius.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver direct nursing care and respond to medical emergencies.
  • Manage chronic conditions and implement individualized health plans.
  • Supervise health room personnel and ensure compliance with health protocols.
  • Monitor and manage communicable disease procedures.
  • Serve as a liaison between families, school staff, and healthcare providers.
  • Maintain accurate health records and documentation.
  • Promote health education and wellness initiatives within the school community.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Wisconsin.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (preferred).
  • School Nurse Certification through the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (preferred or must be obtained).
  • One year of experience in school nursing, public health, or pediatrics (preferred).
  • Current CPR certification (if applicable).
  • TB questionnaire, PPD test, or chest x-ray (if applicable).
  • Current health certificate (as required by contract or state regulation).
  • Must meet all federal, state, and local requirements.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
