Special Education Teacher (Elementary – Self-Contained Classroom)
Location: Evanston, IL
Pay Rate: $42–$50/hr DOE
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM
Duration: ASAP through December 2025 (strong possibility of extension through the end of the school year)

Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Special Education Teacher to join our team and provide high-quality instruction and support to a self-contained elementary classroom. Under the guidance of the Special Education Program Administrator, the teacher will serve a caseload of 5 students with the support of various paraprofessionals. This role requires collaboration with general education staff and a commitment to individualized student success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver specialized instruction tailored to individual student needs
  • Collaborate with paraprofessionals and general education teachers
  • Participate in IEP development and implementation
  • Provide tutorial assistance and consultation
  • Maintain compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university (preferred)
  • Valid state teaching certificate (required)
  • Minimum of one year of teaching experience (preferred)
  • Certifications preferred:
    • Standard Elementary Teaching
    • Standard Secondary Teaching
    • Standard Special Teaching
    • Learning Behavior Specialist (LBS1) endorsement
  • Current CPR certification (if applicable)
  • TB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray (if applicable)
  • Current health certificate (as required by contract or state)
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
