The School Registered Nurse oversees the application of thenursing process and the delivery of student care in a school setting. TheSchool RN supports the physical, mental and emotional well-being of studentswithin the school setting. The School RN plays an essential role in promotingthe health and safety, responding to medical emergencies, managing chronicconditions and serving as a liaison between families, school staff andhealthcare providers. The School RN provides services in accordance with Amergis’philosophy, standards, policies and physician orders.  

Minimum Requirements:  

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state ofemployment
  • Bachelor’s Degree, preferred 
  • School Nurse Certification as required by state or contract
  • One year of school nursing, public health or pediatricexperience, preferred  
  • Complies with all relevant professional standards ofpractice  
  • Current CPR if applicable 
  • TB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable  
  • Current Health certificate (per contract or stateregulation)  
  • Must meet all federal, state and local requirements  
  • Must be at least 18 years of age  
w-2 full benefits weekly pay
Constant monitoring/assessment/interpretation/assistance with/of possible needs:
    Intervention for Seiure Activity
        (Hx Subclinical-Minor-Major)
           Follow Care Plan for use 
                  of rescue Rx)
          Safety/Fall precautions 
          Communicate (phone call) to 
                  Primary parent of 
                   that day for any seizure 
                   activity.
      Basic Needs
            Meals/Hydration (oral)
            Toileting 
             Rest
 
RN partnership with 1:1 Para Educator who is the primary keeper of school activities/schedules.
Intervention as needed when possible client medical needs are in conflict with educational needs.
If able to ride bus, RN and Para Educator accompany client
