Teacher for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing

Amergis is seeking a dedicated Teacher for the Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing to provide specialized instruction in academic or adapted curriculum settings, supporting students with hearing impairments in achieving their full potential.

Position Overview:
The Teacher for the Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing delivers instruction tailored to the needs of deaf and hard-of-hearing students, using appropriate communication methods and assistive technologies to foster academic success and personal growth.

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution (preferred)
• Valid state teaching certification as required
• Proficiency in Sign Language and experience with amplification devices
• Experience working with deaf and hard-of-hearing students (preferred)
• ASL proficiency exam or certification may be required (based on state, contract, or district)
• Compliance with professional standards of practice
• Current CPR certification (if applicable)
• TB test, PPD, or chest X-ray (if applicable)
• Current health certificate (as required by contract or state)
• Must meet all federal, state, and local requirements
• Must be at least 18 years of age
