The Behavioral Classroom Aide provides direct behavioral support to students within a classroom environment. This role involves working closely with teachers, behavioral specialists, and school staff to implement behavior intervention plans, support academic engagement, and promote positive student behavior.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the implementation of individualized behavior intervention plans (BIPs) under the guidance of behavioral specialists.
- Provide one-on-one or small group support to students with behavioral challenges.
- Monitor and document student behavior and progress throughout the school day.
- Support classroom management strategies and help maintain a structured learning environment.
- Collaborate with teachers and school staff to adapt instructional materials and strategies to meet student needs.
- Use de-escalation techniques and crisis intervention strategies when necessary.
- Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and professional development activities.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical and professional standards.
Minimum Requirements:

Education:
- High School Diploma or equivalent (required).
- Associate’s Degree in Behavioral Studies, Psychology, Education, or a related field (preferred).
- Equivalent experience in behavioral support or special education settings may be considered in lieu of a degree.

Certifications (must be current):
- CPR Certification.
- TB Skin Test or Chest X-ray clearance.
- Health Certificate (if applicable based on local/state requirements).

Experience:
- Prior experience working with children or adolescents in educational or behavioral health settings is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with behavioral intervention techniques and classroom support strategies is a plus.
