The Progressive Care Unit RN, as a professionalpractitioner, assumes the responsibility and accountability for deliveringpatient care to telemetry/progressive care patients. The Progressive Care UnitRN demonstrates the ability to make clinical judgments in an effective andefficient manner with supervision. This individual employs critical thinkingand performance ability in the coordinator of patient care, consistentlyperforms according to nursing standards, and is accountable in managing patientcare and assisting others in the management of patient care.  The Progressive Care Unit RN is sometimesalso called a step-down nurse, cardiac stepdown, neuro stepdown, surgicalstepdown and in some medical centers, the PCU is also known as a transition orintermedia unit.

 Modality: Cardiac Step Down RN 

Shift: Rotating, 7-730 – typically every 2 weeks – 3x12s

Pay Rate: Local: $68/hour Travel: $2800/week ($31.35/hr + $1113 housing and $560 meals)

Minimum Requirements:

  • Current Registered Nurse License for the state in which thenurse practices
  • Experience: Minimum of 18 mos *recent* Cardiac Stepdown experience. PCU experience preferred but not required
    Must have at least 18mos PERM Cardiac Stepdown experience prior to travel.

    License: Perm OH or Compact in hand at time of submission

    Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
