Position: Psychiatric LPN(Addictions/Crisis Stabilization)
Facility Type: Alcohol and Addiction Treatment Center
Location: Baltimore, MD
Units:
- Main Campus:
- 82-bed Residential Treatment Center
- Out-patient treatment center
- Center for integrated behavioral health and urgent care
- Main Campus’s 2nd floor has a bed capacity of 42 – ratios are a range of 1:20-24
- Main Campus’s 3rd floor – capacity of 40, 1:20 ratios
- Crisis Stabilization Center:
- 35-bed in-patient unit
- Clients stay 7, 14, or 28 days
- Fast-paced environment, resembling an ER
- 35 beds, hardly at capacity, ratios 1:20
Float requirement: Will float between units as needed
Shift Openings:
- Full Time Days, 7a-7:30p, 36 hours/week, every other weekend required
- Full Time Nights, 7p-7:30a, 36 hours/week, every other weekend required
Weekend Requirement: every other weekend
Holiday Requirement: 2 summer holidays required
Start Date: ASAP (~2 weeks following offer)
Contract Length: 13 weeks (opportunity for extension)
Additional Details:
- Pay every Friday!
- Orientation: 2-3 days; modules, training, shadowing; orientation will occur during dayshift hours
- Parking: free on site
- Dress code: navy blue scrubs
- EMR: KIPU (trained during orientation)
- Interview Process: In-person preferred; open to virtual interview if needed
- All nurses to float to both the main intensive outpatient/behavioral health & addictions side of the building & the smaller Crisis Stabilization side as needed
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Nurses will do admissions, physical assessments, withdrawals assessments, almost like a case manager at times
- No CMTs on site – nurses will dispense medication
- Utilizes the nursing process to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care in a psychiatric facility setting
- Partners with individuals to achieve their recovery goals
- Provides health promotion and maintenance
- Conducts intake screening, evaluation, and triage
- Provides case management
- Teaches self-care activities
- Administers and monitors psychobiological treatment regimens
- Practices crisis intervention and stabilization
- Engages in psychiatric rehabilitation and intervention
- Educates patients, families, and communities
- Coordinates care within interdisciplinary teams
- Evaluates signs and symptoms indicating physiologic and psychosocial changes in the patient’s condition
- Identifies and prioritizes actions based upon patient care requirements
- Provides a safe, comfortable and therapeutic patient environment
- Revises the plan of care according to evaluation, changes in psychiatric and medical plan of care, and effective/ineffective nursing interventions
- Has strong awareness and understanding of suicide prevention
- Understands community resources and outpatient programs for mental health and substance use disorders
- Adheres to Facility/Client procedures and protocols at all times
- Performs other duties as assigned/necessary
Minimum Requirements:
- Experience with dual diagnosis patients is a major plus – many patients are experiencing both addictions and mental health challenges simultaneously.
- Strong Addictions/Dispensing nursing experience
- Behavioral Health & Crisis Stabilization nursing experience
- Strong Med pass & logging experience
- Current Maryland or Compact LPN license
- Complies with all relevant professional standards of practice
- Participation and completion of Amergis’ Competency program when applicable
- Current CPR if applicable
- TB Questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable
- Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation)
- Must meet all federal, state and local requirements
- Successful completion of new hire training as applicable to job site
- Understand patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirements
- Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to and from appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors, co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in the English language is required
- Computer proficiency required
- Must be at least 18 years of age
